Christopher V. Beckman

Chris Beckman is a partner of Beckman, Burns & Nguyen with extensive experience in all major fields of intellectual property. Chris is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in Connecticut and New York, and is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Connecticut Bar Association.

Chris has a passion for law protecting creative endeavors, including such intellectual property fields as patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and internet law. His past clients have included individual inventors, artists, Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations.

Prior to joining Beckman, Burns & Nguyen, Chris was associated with Day Pitney LLP and Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, an AmLaw 200 intellectual property law firm headquartered in New York City. He has participated in successful litigation protecting billions of dollars in revenue, and has advised clients on a wide variety of intellectual property, government investigation and other commercial matters.

Chris graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board. Among other distinctions, Chris received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Advanced Constitutional Law. He participated in the Criminal Trial Clinic in law school, and successfully disposed of four separate criminal matters. Chris also has advanced training in Trial Advocacy and Evidentiary Procedure from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

Chris served as a law clerk to Justice David M. Borden of the Connecticut Supreme Court and Judge Joseph P. Flynn of the Connecticut Appellate Court. Chris also served as a judicial intern to Chief Judge Peter C. Dorsey of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.

In addition to patent prosecution on behalf of others, Chris is himself a successful inventor and entrepreneur, holding several U.S. patents in a wide range of technologies. Chris is a martial artist and a published photographer and writer (both fiction and nonfiction). He is conversant in Spanish, and also has some knowledge of Italian, Lithuanian, German, Russian and French.
